If nothing else, “A Useful Ghost” is certainly a memorable cinematic experience, an impression very much in line with one of the picture’s primary themes – the role that remembrance plays in sustaining the existence of departed loved ones in our hearts, minds and reality. Because of that, this is the sort of offering that probably requires several screenings to appreciate its full impact, although that’s fine considering how much there is to like here. In general, though, most everything the helmer strives to say manages to come through, providing viewers with much to ponder in the picture’s wake.

That much is clear. There's potential here, for sure.

A rental, not a theater visit. Let me tell you, a generic sound design that doesn't leave much impression. The 6.4 rating feels about right.

It's decent, but not without flaws. The 6.4 rating feels about right. A rental, not a theater visit.

There's potential here, for sure. Uneven talent on display that ranges from compelling to flat.
